For those of you who weren't lucky enough to be at our php|works conference last week in Atlanta... I was among you due to having to prepare for some non-work-related activities.
As it is a tradition for me to close our conferences with a short keynote (this year's "Software and the Taste of Mayo" seems to have struck a chord with plenty of people who were looking for confirmation that I am, in fact, insane), however, the guys arranged for me to give my keynote remotely via a video link.
What they didn't tell me, however, is that they had arranged for a simple (but, as you will see, very effective) web-based system that allowed members of the audience to submit "captions" to the screen as I was speaking. The results were, of course, hilarious—mostly because they "forgot" to tell me about the idea until a few days after.
